Overcoming non-linguistic barriers to effective speaking in Russian adult ESP classroom

The problem of teaching speaking in the adult ESP classroom has not been sufficiently studied Russia, although challenges it poses differ significantly from those that traditional research on pedagogy can address. One these is some Russian students do feel comfortable English front their teacher and classmates, which leads to communication barriers. review literature andragogy, our observations, anonymous survey conducted among learners have revealed this discomfort may be caused or compounded by such socio-cultural psychological factors as fear appearing incompetent difficulty assuming subordinate role a student. given study explores suggests creating number conditions maximizing benefits activities for audiences. first condition flexible class organization, are mostly encouraged interact with equals respect social characteristics language proficiency. It creates favorable anxiety-reduced atmosphere all an opportunity demonstrate strengths. Another exposure relevant learning content interactive representing real-life communicative situations. raises motivation reduces impact constraints. third style facilitator rather than superior, involves recognizing both competent respective fields expertise therefore equal status. This setting proves foster development skills classrooms thus recommended audience. Further into topic reveal more underlying verbal interactions classroom.
